Junior Men SP & FS jump notes (Wed./Fri.)

Quick jump notes for the Junior Men's SP (Wednesday, January 24, 2007, at the Spokane Convention Center):

1. Eliot Halverson - back catchfoot Biellmann spiral into 3z-3t, FI spiral-Ina to 3f, back bend glide to 2a. Spin combo included a Biellmann spin.

2. Brandon Mroz - 3z-3t, 3f (leaned way forward on landing), OSE to 2a.

3. Douglas Razzano - Ina to OSE to 2a held landing edge a long time, 3t-3t with good distance, 3f.

4. Curran Oi - 2a, 3z-3t, 3f.

5. Princeton Kwong - 3z-3t, 3f (held on), 2a solid.

6. Austin Kanallakan - 3z-3t, 3f nice landing position, 1a. Fall in straightline footwork.

7. Adam Rippon - 3z fall, 3f hand down, 2a. Spin combo ended with a very fast back scratch.

8. Daniel Raad - 3f, 3z-3t (off-balance in air before the 2nd jump), 2a.

9. Jonathan Cassar - 2z-2t, 3f, 2a. Highly enjoyable jazzy choreography.

10. Andrew Gonzalez - 3z-3t [downgraded to double], no steps into 3f, 2a good.

11. Grant Hochstein - 3z (off-balance landing/hung on)-2t, 3f fall [downgraded to double], OSE-2a.

12. Kelvin Vu - 3t-2t, 2f, waxel pop (no points). Nice lines and extension.

13. Richard Dornbush - 3z (landed, then fell), 3f fall, 2a good.

14. William Brewster - 3z hands down (not a fall), 2f, 2a.

15. Schuyler Eldridge - 3z (landed in tight circle)-2t, 3f turnout [downgraded to a double], axel pop (no points).

The Free Skate took place on the Friday morning of January 26, 2007, at the Spokane Arena. FS jump notes in final results order (checked against the detailed result protocol), along with a few scattered comments, are as follows:

1. Eliot Halverson (2nd in FS): 2a, 3z-3t [toe downgraded to a double], 3f, 3r-2r-2r [8.80 points; 1st of 5 jumps in 2nd half of program], 2a, 3f-2t, 3z, 3s. All 3 spins were level 4 with +GOE average. Very impressive overall performance today.

2. Brandon Mroz (3rd in FS): 3z-3t with extremely fast rotation and distance [11.29 points], 3f(pause)-2t, OSE to 2a fall out/hands down [called a fall], 3f(leaned forward like in SP)-2t, OSE to 3r, 3s, 3z, 2a. He is progressing in developing his skating style.

3. Austin Kanallakan (1st in FS): 3f-3t [10.93 points], 3z-2t, 3r, 3f (nice landing position), 3z, 3s-2t-2r, 2a hung on, 2a. Energetic and exciting skate!

4. Curran Oi (5th in FS): 3r, 2a-2t-2t, 3f (leaned forward, foot down quickly), 3z fall, OSE (2) to 3f-2t, 3s, OSE to 3z-2t, 2a.

5. Douglas Razzano (6th in FS): 2a, 3z nice flow out, 3f-2t, 3s good, 3t fall, 3f step out, 3r, 3t-2t-2t.

6. Adam Rippon (7th in FS): 3z-2t nice, ISE to 2a-2t, 3f, 3r, 3f-2t-2t, OSE to 3z fall [downgraded to double], 3s lean/step out, 2a step out.

7. Princeton Kwong (8th in FS): high 3z-2t, 3f-2t, 3z nice flow out, 3f fall, 3s hand down/flipout, 3r fall, 1a, 2a.

8. Richard Dornbush (4th in FS): fast into 3z-2t, 3f-2t-2r, 2a, 3r fall out, Ina to 3z nice, 2a-3t, 3f, back hydroblade to 3s. Very impressive skate in the first group (5th in FS start order).

9. Jonathan Cassar (9th in FS): Ina Bauers (2) into 3r, 3z fall, 3t-2t, 3f [downgraded to double], 3s off-balance, 2a, 2a-2t, 3s fall [downgraded to double]. He landed a nice 3f in the 6-min. warmup. I really enjoy watching the spins, footwork and choreography in this program.

10. Daniel Raad (10th in FS): 3z-1t, 2a, 3f, 3s turnout to 2t, OSE to 3r, walley to 3z, 3r-2t-2r.

11. Andrew Gonzalez (12th in FS): 3turns to 3r [downgraded to double], 3z-2t, 3f-2t-2r foot down, 3f, 2a-3t, 3s 2-fted, 3t, 2a.

12. Grant Hochstein (11th in FS): 3s-2t-2r, 3z hand/flipout, Ina to 3f flipout, B spiral to 3r fall, back hydroblade to 3s hand, 3t nice, OSE to 2a, 3t flipout-2t.

13. William Brewster (13th in FS): 3s 3turnout, 3z hand/flipout, 3f fall, 3z no flow out, 2a nice flow, 3s-2t, 3t, bracket turns to 2a. Strong comeback after a shaky start.

14. Q. Kelvin Vu (14th in FS): 2a, 1t, 1r, Besti squat into 3s nice, 3t-1t, 2a-2t, 2s-2t, 1z. I really like his lines and flow.

15. Schuyler Eldridge (15th in FS): 3r, 2a hung on, 3z [downgraded to double], 3t hung on, 3f [downgraded to double], 3z fall, 3s-1r, 2a.
